CHAIR YOGA BEGINS AT MIDWEST SHORIN RYU HEALTH & WELLNESS

I had my first chair yoga class with the OG herself—if fabulous yogis who are teachers of teachers can be called: Original Gangsters—Marietta. Wow, does she rock. My class was calming and energizing, challenging yet gentle. I loved everything about it. I even got a small dab of a special scent—not for those who do not enjoy that kind of thing, but absolutely luxurious for me. It smells like I feel walking out of class: light, calm, and harmonious. Like my body is singing in all the right ways.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with chair yoga. I’ve done chair Tai Chi before and enjoyed it. This had many similarities, yet I felt different after—just good. Strong, limber, and ready to take on my day. I’ve got a karate class at 5:30 tonight followed by another yoga class, this one floor yoga on the mat. I’m ready for both!

Chair yoga is amazing for anyone recovering from an injury, or those with bad knees or hips, or, simply for someone who appreciates the stability of the chair to help them stretch and assist with balance as they flow through yoga poses.

I’m hooked. Please join us for chair yoga with Marietta on Mondays at noon. You will be glad you did.
