OUR STORY

Midwest Shorin-Ryu Health & Wellness Center, led by 7th Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate & Okinawan Kobudo, Morganne L. MacDonald, offers a holistic fitness approach through Shorin-Ryu Karate, Okinawan Kobudo, Yoga, and Tai Chi.

Our focus is on the whole person through all of these art forms, helping them calm their spirits and focus their minds on their movements, all while growing stronger. This inner and body strength carries into all aspects of their lives, creating the ability to better navigate life’s challenges.

Shorin-Ryu Karate teaches a way of movement that naturally increases balance, strength, agility, and stability. All of these assist in preventing falls as we age.

​

Tai Chi focuses on slow movements for strength and finding balance as you gently move, shifting your weight.​

​

​Yoga focuses on strength, stretching, and balance. We age and suffer the effects of aging in relationship to how agile we are and how effectively we are able to move.

​

All of these physical acts have a mental component that can, and often does, have a positive effect on mental health and one’s overall well-being.
